WORD PROJECT

Concept:

Using a single word as an influence create a three dimensional translation.

Materials:

Anything goes.

Approach:

Look up your word and brainstorm what you may associate with that word. Illuminate don’t illustrate the direct meaning of the word. For example if the word is “hairy” don’t make hair, think of what hair is? How hair is perceived? Survival? Warmth? Fashion? Age? Next. Sketch ideas, think (but don’t think too much), ideas come from working. Think and work simultaneously. Cast several forms and experiment / explore different options to assemble / create your sculpture. You may alter, break up, sand or leave alone each caste you create. Consider texture and light. Try stacking, spreading, or joining. Again, experiment and explore. Utilize all that you learned throughout the semester.
